Simple Changes is fueled by volunteer energy - some riders need as many as three volunteer assistants for their lesson. Simple Changes currently utilizes over 25 volunteers from the community on a weekly basis. Volunteers log over 500 total hours per month.

Volunteers with horse experience may be trained to lead horses during lessons. Others, with and without horse experience, will be trained to sidewalk during lessons. Lesson volunteers must at least fourteen years of age and be able to walk briskly for two to three hours at a time.

Volunteers are also used to groom horses, clean stalls and for special projects.
